A history of restoration efforts for Vancouver Lake

Schnabel, J. 2004. Salmon Creek Watershed: Summer 2003 Stream Temperature. Clark County Public Works.

The water temperatures for Salmon Creek have been monitored by both Clark Public Utilities (CPU) and Clark County Water Resources Division. Previously, CPU had temperatures evaluated by consultants, but further investigation led to the belief that temperatures were more critical than previously believed. During 2003, temperature loggers were deployed in tributaries as well as the main stem of Salmon Creek. The temperatures measured show that Salmon Creek is in violation of Washington State Clean Water laws. Temperatures exceed the limits of salmonids.

Temperatures can be lowered along the mainstem and tributaries by increasing riparian canopy. Increasing flow will also help to reduce temperatures.
