A history of restoration efforts for Vancouver Lake
Kent,
R.J. 1982. Cultural Resources Research Design for the Vancouver Lake Restoration
Project: a proposal for completion of cultural resource survey, data recovery,
laboratory analysis, reports and curation. Cooper & Associates.
The following research proposal was prepared for the Port of Vancouver directed restoration project located adjacent to the western city limits of Vancouver, Clark County, Washington. An unpredictably high number of historic and prehistoric archaeological sites were discovered during the construction phase of the project in microenvironments previously reported as not containing sites, including the first cultural deposit discovered in the Lower Columbia region dating from the period 3,000 to 500 B.C.
The archaeological material includes: small historic dumps, small isolated aboriginal features, small clusters of features, large diffuse activity areas, and one large site with a diverse assemblage.
