16.12.010 General.

This chapter sets forth special regulations or restrictions regarding time, manner or area of boating operations on certain designated bodies of water. (Sec. 1 of Ord. 1991-10-08)

 

16.12.015 Operation of seaplanes on Vancouver Lake, Lacamas Lake, and Lake Merwin.

(1)    It shall be unlawful for any person to taxi a seaplane in excess of twelve (12) miles per hour on the named waters of Clark County except during training, takeoff and landing, or when safe and prudent operation requires otherwise. Seaplanes shall not exceed a slow no-wake speed within one hundred (100) feet of any shoreline, pier, breakwater, person in the water, boat launch, log sorting area or established moorage, regardless of the speed otherwise authorized on a particular body of water.

(2)    Seaplanes operating on the waters of Clark County shall maintain a minimum of two hundred (200) feet of lateral separation between the seaplane and other vessels except when safety considerations for the seaplane and/or other vessels make a smaller lateral separation prudent.

(3)    Seaplanes shall take off and land at least five hundred (500) feet from shore except when safety considerations and lateral separation from other vessels require otherwise.

(4)    Seaplane operators shall not wilfully fail or refuse to comply with the direction of a peace officer who is at the time discharging the duty of regulating and directing waterborne traffic. (Sec. 1 of Ord. 1996-07-22)

 

16.12.020 Vancouver Lake.

It is unlawful to operate a motorboat on Vancouver Lake in excess of slow—no-wake speed or within two hundred (200) feet of a designated swimming area. (Sec. 1 of Ord. 1991-10-08; amended by Sec. 1 of Ord. 1996-07-22)

 

16.12.030 Lacamas Lake.

(1)    It is unlawful to operate a motorboat on Lacamas Lake at a speed in excess of ten (10) miles per hour for the first fifteen (15) days following the opening of trout fishing in Clark County.

(2)    It is unlawful to operate a motor boat on Lacamas Lake at any time at a speed in excess of slow—no-wake speed in the following areas:

(a)    Easterly of the buoys at the east end of the lake across from the state boat ramp;

(b)    Westerly of the buoys at the west end of the lake.

(3)    The buoys referenced in subsection (2) shall be placed by the county and marked slow—no-wake speed. (Sec. 1 of Ord. 1991-10-08; amended by Sec. 1 of Ord. 1992-02-02; amended by Sec. 1 of Ord. 1993-07-22; amended by Sec. 1 of Ord. 1996-07-22)

 

16.12.040 Lake Merwin.

(1)    It is unlawful to operate a motorboat in excess of the slow—no-wake speed in the areas set forth below:

(a)    In the area of Lake Merwin’s “Campers Hideaway” north of the boom and/or buoy line; or

(b)    From June 1st through September 30th from the buoy line at Cresap Campgrounds to the steel cable at the east end of the lake.

(2)    It is unlawful to operate a vessel, including seaplanes, in the following areas of Lake Merwin:

(a)    Restricted Area No. 1: west of the trash boom adjacent to Merwin Dam;

(b)    Restricted Area No. 2: east of the buoy line located one thousand five hundred (1,500) feet downstream from the Yale Powerhouse. (Sec. 1 of Ord. 1991-10-08; amended by Sec. 2 of Ord. 1995-05-48; amended by Sec. 1 of Ord. 1996-07-22)

 

16.12.050 Yale Lake.

(1)    It is unlawful to operate a vessel in the following areas of Yale Lake:

(a)    Restricted area No. 1: west of the trash boom adjacent to Yale Dam;

(b)    Restricted area No. 2: east of the buoy line located one thousand two hundred (1,200) feet downstream of the Swift No. 2 Powerhouse. (Sec. 1 of Ord. 1991-10-08)

 

16.12.055 Siouxon Creek.

It is unlawful to operate a motorboat in excess of the slow—no-wake speed on Siouxon Creek from the overhead steel bridge owned by International Paper to the waterfall. (Sec. 3 of Ord. 1995-05-48)

 

16.12.060 East Fork Lewis River.

(1)    It is unlawful to operate a motorboat on the East Fork of the Lewis River from its confluence with the North Fork to Mason Creek at a speed in excess of thirty (30) miles per hour.

(2)    It is unlawful to operate a motorboat above Mason Creek. (Sec. 1 of Ord. 1991-10-08; amended by Sec. 4 of Ord. 1995-05-48)

 

16.12.065 North Fork Lewis River.

It is unlawful to operate a motorboat at a speed in excess of thirty (30) miles per hour on the North Fork of the Lewis River from its confluence with the East Fork to the overhead powerline (fishing boundary) below Lake Merwin. (Sec. 5 of Ord. 1995-05-48)

 

16.12.070 Washougal River.

It is unlawful to operate a motorboat above Hathaway Park and the Washougal corporate limits. (Sec. 1 of Ord. 1991-10-08; amended by Sec. 2 of Ord. 1992-02-02)

 

16.12.080 Round Lake.

It is unlawful to operate an internal combustion engine on Round Lake east of the State Highway 500 bridge that divides Lacamas Lake and Round Lake. (Sec. 1 of Ord. 1991-10-08; amended by Sec. 3 of Ord. 1992-02-02)

 

16.12.090 Columbia River.

Vessels shall not exceed a slow—no-wake speed within two hundred (200) feet of any shoreline, pier, breakwater, person in the water, boat launch, log sorting area, or established moorage in the unincorporated area of Clark County. (Sec. 6 of Ord. 1995-05-48)

 

16.12.100 Salmon Creek.

It is unlawful to operate any nongovernmental vessel, propelled through the use of an internal combustion engine, on Salmon Creek from its mouth at Lake River to its point of origin. (Sec. 7 of Ord. 1995-05-48)
